Gift of Prophet
Here we will identify what is a true Prophet. Also be on guard what God does Satan is quick to counterfeit and send false Prophets into the Assemblies. They may look great, be a great speaker, be entertaining, and friendly. Test every man’s fruit and gift with the Scriptures. There are many deadly wolves that look like, and sound like, and act like, and even think they are doing God’s work. Remember Paul before he was a true Born Again by the Father’s Fire and by the presence of Jesus? Every Church I visit I ask one of the Elders if they have ever identified a wolf among them? I am still waiting to hear a yes. Here is what I find in the Scriptures that point out what God’s Prophets do.
A true prophet of God is committed to sharing God’s truth. He will never contradict Jesus. A Prophet is subject to all the writings of the Prophets in the Scriptures. A true prophet will say, as did the prophet Micaiah just before his fateful confrontation with Ahab, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what my God says” [2 Chronicles 18:13].
A prophet is a person who has been given a prophetic message directly from God or from a messenger from heaven. If he is told a prophecy then it points to events that will take place in the future. Prophets in the past also were given messages to deliver to other people living at that same time. I will only focus on the Prophetic duties of a Prophet in this study. A Prophet is a “seer” which means he has the ability to see the future events that may affect people living at the same time or ahead to the time of the end.
A Bible Prophet also has been given the Gift by the Holy Spirit to explain what the Prophets had recorded in the Scriptures. Isaiah’s work of a Prophet for example addressed both the present time he was living when he preached against the corruption of his day in Isaiah 1:4. But He also revealed details about the latter days he also was given to share that was to come in the future.
The Holy Spirit Gift of Prophet is a true Prophet that has been given inspiration to understand what has been written and understands and explains to these who hunger for righteousness are searching and listening to whose who have been given wisdom to know and understand. In Daniel we are promised the wise would share and many would become righteous in the latter days before probation door is shut, for the Father give to those seeking knowledge because the fear God which is the beginning of wisdom, which brings knowledge and understanding to those who are seeking to understand what had been sealed up and hidden from our eyes. [Daniel 12:3-4].
Dan 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
The prophets in the past had the duty to faithfully speak and explain God’s prophecies to the people. The apostles also had the essential duty to read the scriptures and explain their meaning. Not all apostles were given the gift of prophecy; the Holy Spirit decides what gift and how many a person is to be given. So, an apostle may possibly also be a prophet. The apostles and prophets guided the nation of Israel in the past, and later these two gifts were needed to establish the modern assemblies after they came out of the Roman Empire’s Christian church. The foundation of the Father’s house is built upon Jesus by those true apostles and prophets of God. Jesus is the chief cornerstone [Ephesians 2:20].
In the time of the end, two Prophets will be witnesses of God fulfillment of Prophecy. They will be as Moses was in Egypt when he announced the next plague that was to fall upon Egypt. As Moses did during the last 3.5 years of Great Tribulation they will announce the Trumpets that will fall upon the people and the earth. will prophesy from the City of Jerusalem, where the man of sin will rule from the Holy Place calling himself God [Revelation 11:1-7].
Almost always, the prophets God sends are despised and their message rejected. Many times God and his Prophets called his people a rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction. The people then and today say they don’t want to hear about any prophetic visions, or direct instruction from the Scriptures or future events and warnings by the Old and New Testament Prophets. Who today is seeking “The Way” of Jesus? Jesus said we could know the way to where Jesus was going [John 14:4]. People even in the Churches today want to here the pleasant things. Peace and safety is the normal diet being feed by many Pastors today. I have learn by experience the “Fear” is our friend and to “Fear the Almighty Father” is the beginning of wisdom. Intelligence is needed to fix problems, wisdom is needed to prevent the problems. Jesus was very sad that the people in the City of Jerusalem had killed the prophets that were sent to them (Luke 13:34) to bless them and protect them. Ask yourself are we better today? Knowing that the Holy Spirit had been sent are we walking on Holy Ground when the promised Father’s Spirit and Jesus is abiding within us. Do we understand our Holy calling to walk today, as Jesus walked:
I walked today where Jesus walked,
In days of long ago.
I wandered down each path He knew,
With reverent step and slow.
Those little lanes, they have not changed,
A sweet peace fills the air.
I walked today where Jesus walked,
And felt Him close to me.
My pathway led through Bethlehem,
A memory’s ever sweet.
The little hills of Galilee,
That knew His childish feet.
The Mount of Olives, hallowed scenes,
That Jesus knew before
I saw the mighty Jordan row,
As in the days of yore.
I knelt today where Jesus knelt,
Where all alone he prayed.
The Garden of Gethsemane,
My heart felt unafraid.
I picked my heavy burden up,
And with Him at my side,
I climbed the Hill of Calvary,
I climbed the Hill of Calvary,
I climbed the Hill of Calvary,
Where on the Cross He died!
I walked today where Jesus walked,
And felt Him close to me.
1 Corinthians Chapters 12; 13; & 14:26-40 Give Instructions for Body Building & Orderly Worship
1Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
1Co 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaks unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
1Co 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaks with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
1Co 14:12 Even so ye, for as much as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
1Co 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
1Co 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
1Co 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying is not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
What Is Orderly Worship?
1Co 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
1 Co 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1Co 14:30 If any thing be revealed to another that sits by, let the first hold his peace.
1Co 14:31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
